Amazon adding jobs at Middletown facility

Amazon's Middletown warehouse is adding 500 jobs as part of a company expansion.

The positions are part of a 6,000-job boost across 19 of Amazon's East Coast and Southeast fulfillment centers.

An Amazon spokesman says the new hires will bring the three-year-old Middletown facility's full-time workforce up to more than 2,500.

The company added 500 jobs in Middletown a year ago.  The facility there opened in the fall of 2012 with just over 500 workers.

The Middletown warehouse is responsible for packing and shipping customer orders. It's one of Amazon's two fulfillment centers in Delaware.  The other is in New Castle.
