Lt. Governor Matt Denn will be Delaware’s next Attorney General.
Denn picked up nearly 53 percent of the vote in defeating Republican Ted Kittila in the race to replace Beau Biden as AG. Biden announced earlier this year not to pursue a third term as AG.
Denns says he believes the plan he offered voters help lift him to victory.

“I think people appreciated that we had a very specific plan for how we wanted to deal with what people view for my office as the most important problem we’re facing, which is the violent crime and homicide rate in our state," said Denn.
Denn adds his experience as Lt. Gov., Insurance Commissioner and an attorney seemed to resonate with voters.
Denn says he intends to get to work immediately on transitioning into his new post and implementing his plans to cope with violent crime and other issues
“Both making sure that we’re set up to take over the office itself and run it efficiently [and] lay the groundwork for some of the parts of my plan to that will involve help from other branches of government, other levels of government, law enforcement agencies," said Denn. "If we’re going to be succeed with this its going to require a lot of cooperation and I think this two months will be a valuable time for us to start those conversations. “
Denn’s victory means the state will be without a Lt. Gov. for the final two years of Gov. Jack Markell’s second term since there is no mechanism in the state constitution to fill the post before the next election.
