Delaware health officials confirm no Ebloa case in Dover hospital

Delaware's Department of Public Health confirms there is no Ebola case in the First State.

A child from Liberia was brought to the Bayhealth Kent General emergency department in Dover Saturday. After an initial assessment using updated CDC guidelines for identifying suspected Ebola cases that child was placed in isolation as a precaution.

Delaware’s Office of Infectious Disease notified the CDC of the situation. The CDC determined that since the child is past the 21-day maximum incubation period that the likelihood of Ebola infection is extremely low and declined to test the child for it.

The child is currently symptom-free but will continue to be observed at Kent General until the CDC and the infectious disease physician determine it is safe to discharge the patient.

All CDC guidelines regarding dealing with a suspected case of Ebola have been followed since the child was admitted.
