DSU won't raise tuition for second straight year

Delaware State University has announced that it will not be raising it’s tuition, housing, and fee rates for the 2014 - 2015 school year.

This will be the second year in a row DSU hasn’t raised its in-state and out-of-state tuitions from $7,336 and $15,692, respectively.

The decision not to raise tuition rates was made during a special executive board meeting on Wednesday in an effort to alleviate the financial burden on students, their families, and the local community.

“We have chosen to make major changes in how we operate so that we do not have to increase the weight of tuition and fees on the backs of students," said Dr. Claibourne D. Smith, board chair.

DSU President Harry Williams is pleased with the decision.

“With the country coming out of a recession, I am pleased that the DSU Board of Trustees understands the challenges our students and their families are facing,” Dr. Williams said.

The costs of meal plans will also remain the same, ranging between $1,926 and $3,844.
