Delaware welcomes home additional Nat'l Guard members from Afghanistan

80 members of Delaware Army National Guard 198th Expeditionary Signal Battalion arrived home safely Wednesday after a nine-month mission in Afghanistan.

They are the third wave of returning soldiers from the 198th who departed in last May to provide communications support to International Security Assistance Force troops based out of Kandahar.

The flight landed at approximately 3:30 at New Castle County Airport where the soldiers were greeted on the flight line and then bused to Newport and Georgetown to be reunited with their families.

80 members of the 198th returned in December and another 70 last month. The last of the over 300 members of the battalion deployed last May are expected to return on March 1st.
