Delaware State University has fired its men’s basketball coach. Greg Jackson has been relieved of his coaching duties effective immediately.
DSU Athletic Director Candy Young says the decision was made to the Hornets men’s hoop program in a new direction. The Hornets are currently 4-15 this season and winless in six Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contests.
Assistant coach Keith Walker will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.
Jackson has served as DSU head coach for 14 seasons – compiling a 200-and-216 record. He led the Hornets to three MEAC regular season titles (2005-2007), including the school’s first-ever MEAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2005.
The school says it will conduct a national search for Jackson’s successor.
