A detention hearing for the daughter of New Castle County Courthouse shooter Thomas Matusiewicz is on hold until next week.
Amy Gonzalez was in U.S. District court Thursday to hear the charges against her and seek bail. Her attorney asked for a continuance, seeking more time to prepare. The hearing will resume Tuesday in Wilmington.
Court papers indicate Gonzalez’s lawyer will argue she is not a flight risk or a threat to the community – and needs to be free to support her family.
Gonzalez - along with her mother and brother– faces federal interstate stalking charges in connection the February shooting in which her father Thomas fatally shot her brother David’s ex-wife, Christine Belford, and her friend at the New County County Courthouse before killing himself.
David and Lenore Matusiewicz each pleaded not guilty and waived their detention hearings. They will be held until trial.
All charged face possible life sentences and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines if found guilty.
