Unemployment rate in the First State rises

December unemployment figures took a turn upward in Delaware.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate jumped two-tenths of a percent last month to 6.9 percent, pushing the unemployment level to its highest point since August.

The figures had been generally trending downward since the beginning of last year, with this bump being the largest difference in either direction from month to month in 2012.

The numbers not seasonally adjusted jumped up across the board.

The unemployed in Sussex County rose by one point two percent, and the City of Wilmington climbed above ten percent once again.
