ILC Dover to bring over 100 jobs to Sussex County

Governor Markell revealed in his State of the State address that Seaford will see more than 115 new full-time manufacturing jobs by the end of the year.

Engineering firm ILC Dover recently acquired Grayling Industries and plans to move its production facility from Juarez, Mexico to Sussex County.

State Economic Development Director Alan Levin says the plant will focus on products for the military side of the economy.

“These are plastic containers or plastic bags containing more defense-related products. These aren’t sandwich bags. These are a little bit more involved,” said Levin.

Levin adds this is especially good news for an area that had seen its manufacturing base disappear in recent years.

“We have a strong agriculture sector there, but once we lost Nylon down in Seaford, manufacturing slowly left,” added Levin.

ILC plans to hire about 40 workers in April, and then round out their roster by the end of 2013.
