Rachel Sawicki is Delaware Public Media's New Castle County Reporter. They are non-binary and use they/them pronouns.
Born and raised in Camden, Delaware, they attended Caesar Rodney High School and graduated from the
University of Delaware in 2021 with a double degree in English and Communications with a minor in journalism.
Rachel originally joined the DPM team as an intern in Summer of 2019 and continued to work part-time as an anchor and reporter, until leaving to write for Delaware State News for a short time after graduation. But the call to radio brought hem back in 2022!
Rachel now lives in Newark, Delaware, close to their alma mater, and often visits their professors for guest lectures in UD journalism classes.
Rachel is also in training to become a certified Delaware Master Naturalist and volunteers at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark and Stillmeadow Community Fellowship in Baltimore for forest work removing
invasive species and planting trees.
They also love music and frequently attend local concerts in their free time, no matter who is playing.
