Delaware singer-songwriter Sol Knopf has been making music ever since his teenage debut at one time Dover favorite, Leone's Lamplighter on Bradford Street.

Since then, the musician has appeared on the Nashville Network, been in bands with record deals and has had several of his songs pitched to country music's biggest stars.

He's self-released two solo CD's, his latest “Sea Change,” has drawn critical acclaim for its single, "My Baby Girl."

Knopf says the song is his biggest hit to date and has gained him a worldwide audience.

“I get letters and pictures every week from people all over the world,” he says. “For a guy like me who's been at this so long with no record deal, no publishing deal; we put a little YouTube video up and on the first day we had like a thousand hits on it and people downloading it all over the world. A guy from Australia downloaded it yesterday.”

To date, the video has over 455,000 views on YouTube (view it here or below).

Knopf is bringing a couple of his Nashville friends to the First State for a couple of gigs they’ve dubbed “Songwriters and Storytellers.”

Thom Schuyler is a Nashville Hall of Fame songwriter and Craig Bickhardt has penned four #1 country music hits and nine Top 10’s and has had his songs covered by artists such as Johnny Cash and BB King.

Knopf says his fellow musicians are not only accomplished players but tell great stories about their legendary country music careers.

“Craig tells this story about how they were working on a demo one day and there’s this kid sitting there at the console while they’re working,” says Knopf. “The kid was there the whole day and Craig says, ya know we’ve been working all day and we’re hungry, we haven’t had anything to drink, I’m about to tell this guy to make yourself useful and go get us a darn pizza.’ Well that kid was Garth Brooks,” says Knopf with a laugh.

“The Songwriters and Storytellers” show happens Friday, March 13th at the Smyrna Opera House and Sunday March, 15 at Heritage Shores in Bridgeville.
