Mayor Williams creates task force to help draw young professionals to Wilmington

Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams (D) has signed an executive order designed to lure more young professionals to the state’s largest city.

The creation of the Young Professionals Task Force aims to find creative approaches to encourage educated young adults to live and work in Wilmington.

In a statement Williams said, “the Young Professional Task Force looks to directly engage young adults in the city’s mission to increase its number of young professionals.”

The Mayor’s office points to the emergence of adults aged 21 to 40 to Wilmington’s Trolley Square, Riverfront and Downtown neighborhoods as an encouraging indicator to build upon.

The Young Professional Task Force, made up of Wilmington area business people and young city officials will meet monthly. The group’s ideas and suggestions will be compiled as a report and presented to the Williams Administration.
