U.S. Justice Dept. files suit over firing of Air Force Reserve member

The U.S. Justice Department filed suit against a group of Dover businesses Thursday for allegedly firing an Air Force Reserve member after he returned from required military training last year.

The suit contends that Regal Contractors, Regal Builders and Noble Pond Homes dismissed Lon Fluman in December, claiming he did not provide sufficient notice of his leave.

Fluman has been stationed at Dover Air Force Base since 2009.

Federal law requires employers to rehire any active or reserve military member after returning from training or tours of duty.

Noble Pond Homes couldn’t immediately be reached for comment regarding the lawsuit.

The U.S. District Attorney for Delaware is seeking back pay and other damages from the company and demanding a jury trial for the case.
