Sussex County is trying to help its residents stay cool during this week’s heat wave. The County is opening three “cooling stations” for public use through the end of this week.
The stations are at the County Administration building in Georgetown, the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach and the Milton Library.
The Georgetown station is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The Bethany Beach station is open 10 am to 8pm Monday through Thursday, 1 to 5 pm Friday and 9am to 3pm Saturday. In Milton, the cooling station will be available from 10 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 4pm Saturday.
Free bottled water will also be available at the County Administration building
The National Weather Service has placed the county under a heat advisory through 8 tonight. DNREC has also declared Thursday another Code Orange alert day - saying the heat has created air quality conditions that may be unhealthy for children, the elderly, and those with heart or respiratory conditions.
