Delle Donne set CAA scoring record in latest UD victory

University of Delaware All-American Elena Delle Donne reached another major career milestone Sunday.

The Blue Hen senior became the all-time leading scorer in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history as 20th ranked Delaware defeated James Madison 71-64 in a battle between the league's top two women's squads at JMU.

Delle Donne’s 20 points in the victory pushed her career total to 2,677, moving her past former JMU star Dawn Evans on the league’s all-time scoring list. Delle Donne also tied the CAA all-time record for field goals made at 904 with a 6-of-12 shooting performance in the contest. She temporarily shares that mark with former Drexel stand-out Gabriela Marginean.

UD improved to 20-3 with the win and remains unbeaten in the CAA at 11-0. The Blue Hens have won 15 straight. They also snapped JMU's eight game win streak.

Delaware now has 20 wins for a fourth straight season and for the seventh time in the past decade.

UD hosts Old Dominion Thursday night in Newark.
