Delaware and Delaware State renew their Route One Rivalry this weekend when the Blue Hens and Hornets square off in men’s basketball Saturday afternoon.
It’s the 13th meeting all-time meeting between the two squads. Delaware has won the last two and 10 of the first 12 in the series. Last year, The Hens notched a 58-42 victory at DSU's Memorial Hall behind 21 points, 19 rebounds and five blocked shots from Jamelle Hagins.
UD is 3-6 this season following a 68-59 win over Radford in its home opener Tuesday night. Devon Saddler posted 18 points and five assists in that contest as Delaware snapped a 5 game losing streak. Hagins added 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots in that victory.
DSU owns a 4-5 record after topping Maryland-Eastern Shore 76-66 in their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener last Saturday. Tahj Tate led the way with a season-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field as Del State also snapped a 5 game slide.
Tipoff is at 2 pm Saturday in Newark. The Hornets are oh-and-5 all-time in games at Delaware’s Carpenter Center.
