Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control handed out a pair of air quality related fines Monday.
DNREC hit Wilmington’s Saint Francis Hospital with a nearly 22 thousand-dollar penalty for air quality record keeping violations uncovered during a February inspection.
St. Francis can trim 10 thousand dollars from the fine by complying with the DNREC order and engaging in no future violations of state or federal law.
Formosa Plastics Corporation received just over 60 thousand dollars in fines for air quality violations at its facility near Delaware City between August 2012 and July of this year. Formosa produces polyvinyl or PVC resin.
Both St. Francis Hospital and Formosa have 30 days to request a public hearing on their violations.
