Winterthur's Delaware Antiques Show brings top dealers to First State

Some of country’s top antique dealers are in Wilmington this weekend for Winterthur Museum and Gardens' annual Delaware Antiques Show.

Over 60 dealers are bringing a variety of furniture, paintings, rugs, and jewelry – as well as their expertise - to the Chase Center on the Riverfront for the 49th edition of the event.

But Winterthur Special Events Planner Jill Abbott says the event is not just for longtime collectors.

“It’s a weekend full of education and collecting. You don’t have to be a collector to come to the show," said Abbott. "If it’s your first time starting out, we have at our show small green placards that say ‘find’. They’re deemed in each of the booths to be a good value, a good starting point for somebody who wants to start.”

Abbott adds that the show also features a series of lectures, including one that connects entertaining done at Winterthur by Henry Francis du Pont with modern day style...

“Carolyne Roehm is a tastemaster. She is our keynote speaker and she will speak Friday morning about entertaining current day. And like I said Henry Francis du Pont’s ideas and his decorating and his entertaining is timeless. Carolyne’s is as well and she just brings it current day,” said Abbott.

Proceeds from the event help fund educational programs at Winterthur.

The Delaware Antiques Show runs through Sunday. You find more information about it, including ticket information at winterthur.org
