Earlier this month, the 2010 U.S. Census numbers for Delaware were released. The state's population grew from 783,600 in 2000 to 897,934 in 2010 - a jump of 14.6 percent. Much of that growth came below the C&D Canal in Southern New Castle County and Kent and Sussex Counties. Kent and Sussex each grew by between 25 and 30 percent. What does that shift south mean for state politics? And what about the unexpected rise in Delaware's Hispanic population - which nearly doubled to 8.2 percent of residents?
