Oscar winner Luke Matheny returns home to Delaware

Before the Academy Awards last month, Luke Matheny was another filmmaker struggling to get his name and work noticed.  That changed when the Delaware native won the Oscar for Best Short Film (Live Action) for his film "God of Love".  But 34 year old Matheny has not forgotten where he came from.  He gave the First State a shout out in his acceptance speech (thanking "the great State of Delaware") and Monday returned to his high school alma mater, Concord High School, to screen "God Of Love" and to chat with students and teachers.

"I've lived in a lot of different places," said Matheny before screening the movie at Concord.  "But this is the place I consider home."

At Concord High, where Matheny graduated in 1993, Governor Jack Markell named Matheny "Delaware's Ambassador to Hollywood".

Monday night, Matheny screened the film again for a sold out audience at Wilmington's Theatre N.  Then, he prepares to move to Los Angeles and continue working on his next script, a feature length project called "Ron Quixote'.
