Nationally-ranked UD women cruise past Northeastern

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team looked very much like one of the nation’s best Tuesday night.

One day after returning to the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since November, the number 25 Blue Hens blasted Northeastern 77-50 in Newark.

The Hens scored 17 of the games first 19 points and never looked back in one of their best offensive performances of the season.

Delaware knocked down nearly 57 percent from the field, their best shooting effort of the year. They also matched a season-high with 8 three pointers en route to their 11th straight victory.

Elena Delle Donne led UD with a game-high 26 points.

Delaware is now 16-3 overall and first in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with a 6-0 league record.

The Hens are in Atlanta tomorrow night to face Georgia State in a C-A-A contest. It will be UD’s third game in five days.
