The City of Milford announces a new Community Grant Program.
Milford officials recently approved using some of its federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to launch the grant program.
“And it is using 10% of our $6.33 million that we’ve been awarded; we are providing in a grant format to community organizations - specifically nonprofits - that are looking to relieve themselves of some of the strain that COVID has placed on them,” said Melody Barger, a local government management fellow working with Milford to administer the program.
She notes that eligible fund uses fall under four categories, three of which apply to nonprofits.
"If COVID has affected your business, your ability to hire, your ability to pay your employees or your ability to stay open - anything like that - you’re going to qualify for ARPA funding,” said Barger.
Applicants must demonstrate how they responded to or were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including paying essential workers or making investments into broadband or other infrastructure.
The grants are available on a first come, first served basis through December 31, 2024, or the exhaustion of program funding, whichever comes first.
