The Delaware Memorial Bridge begins cashless tolling at its southbound Toll Plaza Thursday.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, drivers can use any open lane - since all toll lanes are equipped with E-ZPass technology.
No toll collectors will be present and cash will notbe accepted in any lane.
Drivers without EZPass will receive a bill.
The Delaware Memorial Bridge joins Delaware’s three toll plazas that went cashless last week.
Officials say traffic volume on the Delaware Memorial Bridge has dropped dramatically since the COVID-19 virus outbreak started.
The traffic numbers for the most recent seven-day period (March 18-24) totalled 193,390 vehicles. That’s a decline of 40-percent compared to the same period last year.
The bridge had been seeing record-high volume in recent months.
