Two more flu-related deaths have been reported in the First State.

According to Delaware’s Division of Public Health, the latest victims were both New Castle County residents, a 58-year-old female and a 69-year-old male.  They are the state’s second and third flu-related deaths this season.

They come in what has been a late peak in flu cases and flu-related fatalities this season.  Just over 300 of Delaware’s 11-hundred-38 confirmed cases have come in the latest week reported.

However, this flu season is still much less deadly than last year’s when there were nearly 24 hundred confirmed cases in Delaware and 28 flu-related deaths.

State health officials continue to encourage Delawareans to take precautions to help prevent catching the flu, including simple measures like washing of hands, covering coughs and sneezes and staying at home when sick.
