The City of Milford is hosting Community Conversations with members of the community to gather input on the long-term vision for the city.

Milford Mayor Bryan Shupe says the Community Conversations will involve facilitated discussion that allow residents to help shape Milford’s future.

"Our Community Conversations are really an ongoing commitment to our residents to ensure that they’re informed about our legislation, our services, our community information," said Shupe. "But I think more importantly for us is to listen to what the residents see at Milford’s opportunity and challenges and how do we create a roadmap together to get there.”

But Shupe notes they are not just looking to hear from Milford residents on topics such as quality of life, services, transportation, land use and economic health:

"We want Milford residents that live within the City or in the larger zipcode, and anybody that’s affected by Milford or works in Milford or goes to Milford for their services," said Shupe. "We want to hear from [all of] them.”

Shupe adds the conversations build on the city’s community survey completed this past summer. Findings from the survey and the Community Conversations will assist Milford in preparing its five-year strategic plan, that will set priorities for the city.

The first Community Conversation is on Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 a.m. at the Music School of Delaware in Milford on South Walnut Street. Another meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19 at noon at Arena's in Milford.

The city will be announcing additional meetings this week. You can find a complete list on the city's website.
