The nation’s largest community improvement program, Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, kicks off for the first time in Delaware with Keep Delaware Beautiful this June.

The Great American Cleanup takes place annually in an estimated 20,000 communities nationwide and engages more than 5 million volunteers and participants every year.

“The Great American Cleanup has been around for 20 years, on the national level, said Sarah Culler, the program and outreach manager for Keep Delaware Beautiful. "It’s an event from Keep America Beautiful, which you’ve probably heard of through the years. And this event is basically to bring everyone together in different communities around the country to clean up their community, to do things like cleaning up litter, plant trees, recycle cans and bottles that you see.”

She says it’s easy to get involved in Delaware’s Great American Cleanup efforts; just visit KeepDelawareBeautiful.com and register your event for any date between June 1st and 30th.

“People can pick the date that they want to do a cleanup. So we’re trying to make this very easy. They can pick any date during the month of June that they want to do something to participate,” said Culler.
