With the first major storm of the winter is set to hit Delaware tonight, DelDOT road crews say they are ready.
Crews have been out treating major roadways in New Castle and Kent Counties with a brine to help melt snow once it hits.
"This could be a difficult storm because there’s going to be some high winds, which means (snow) could drift back onto the roads," DelDOT Communications Officer Bud Freel said.
Plows are on standby to clear the state’s highways and bridges, no matter how much snow falls, Freel said.
He recommends against driving during the storm, especially at night. But if you do have to get behind the wheel, he said go slow and give plows a wide berth.
While Sussex County likely won’t get too much snow, a wintry mix and possible flooding is still expected into Tuesday.
