Cell outage affecting 911 calls fixed

Cellphone users in the Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania area were unable to call 911 Wednesday morning during a service outage.

Kimberly Chandler of the state Department of Safety and Homeland Security says the issue was on the cellphone companies' end, not with the emergency line. A request for comment from Verizon was not immediately returned.

Chandler says people were able to reach 911 with landline phones during the outage, which affected some cell to landline service in general, too.

The problem was fixed in about three hours with the outage lasting from around 10 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
