Democratic Presidential front-runner Joe Biden was back home in Wilmington Thursday.
The former Vice President spoke about the U.S. response to new coronavirus at the Hotel DuPont.
He criticized the Trump administration’s approach to the global pandemic, which has spread to the majority of states - including Delaware.
And he described his campaign’s plan to address the U.S. outbreak, which includes increased testing and creation of a state and local emergency fund.
“These funds could be used at the discretion of local leaders for whatever they need most--from expanding critical health infrastructure, hiring additional healthcare and emergency service personnel, or cushioning the wider economic blows this virus is going to create in their communities,” Biden said.
Biden called for large-scale relief for families and businesses and replacement of wages for people who are losing work because of the virus outbreak.
Four people have tested presumptively positive for the new coronavirus disease so far in Delaware.
The nationwide outbreak has already impacted the functioning of the Delaware’s General Assembly and the state’s two largest universities.
