Voters have their say in contested legislative primaries

A number of legislative seats saw competitive primary races.

In Wilmington, Darius Brown and Tizzy Lockman won primaries to replace retiring State Senators Margaret Rose Henry and Robert Marshall.  Brown survived a four way primary with Bobbie Cummings, Same Guy and Herman Holloway Jr. with 38 percent of the vote.  Lockman topped Jordan Hines with

And Nnamdi Chukwuocha unseated incumbent Charles Potter in the State Rep District 1 by a 60-4o% margin. Stephanie Bolden and Sherry Dorsey Walker also won Democratic State House primaries in the state’s largest city.  Bolden defeated Ugundi Jacons while Walker picked up 68 percent of the vote ina  primary with James Milelr and Paul Falkowski.

Democrat Guillermina Gonzalez and Republican Michael Smith will face off to replace retiring State Rep. Joe Miro in the 22nd House District after winning their primaries Thursday  Gonzalez topped Renee Taschner and Smith defeated Kathy Beard.

And in Dover, Democratic State Rep Sean Lynn fended off primary challenge from Ralph Taylor in the 31st District.  He now faces David Anderson, who won his Republican primary there against M. Jean Dowding.
