Delaware’s unemployment rate dropped 0.1% in February, but the state gave back most of the 2,000 jobs gained the month before.
Delaware counted 457,100 non-farm jobs in January and 456,800 in February.
Delaware has seen 0.2% in job growth during the past year while the nation has grown 1.6%. Neighboring states have also seen more growth than Delaware. Experts say this disparity is a symptom of small state economics, and not part of a long-term systemic problem. Delaware has outgrown its neighbors since 2012 despite this recent slowdown.
Delaware’s unemployment rate stands at 4.4%, while the nation’s is 4.1%.
State officials note there are hundreds of available jobs in state government. There are 21,100 unemployed Delawareans.
