Delaware Public Media

Unemployment in The First State dipped slightly last month.

Delaware’s jobless rate slipped a tenth of a percent for a second straight month, falling to 4.3 percent in March.

But that’s still slightly above the nation’s unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.

The state also saw a slight uptick in jobs last month, and has seen a net gain of 3,100 jobs since this time a year ago.  That’s a 0.7 percent increase, which also lags behind the national average .  Nationally, jobs were up 1.6 percent since last March.

Unemployment at the county and city level also dropped or held steady in March.  The biggest dip came in Sussex County were the non-seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell from 5.0 to 4.5 percent.

Unemployment in Wilmington fell from 5.7 to 5.4 percent last month and is down from 6.5 percent in March 2017.
