UD stumbles in 2018 football opener

The University of Delaware suffers a disappointing loss to open its 2018 football season.

The nationally-ranked Blue Hens fell to unranked Rhode Island 21-19 Thursday night at Delaware Stadium.

Three UD fumbles proved costly.  Two of them led directly to Rhode Island touchdowns.

Delaware entered the game ranked as high as 15th in the nation.  They’ll try to rebound September 8th when they entertain Lafayette.

Wesley College kicks-off its season in Dover Friday night.

Wesley plays its first game since the death of long-time head coach Mike Drass last May.

Chip Knapp, Drass’ top assistant, takes the reins as 9th ranked Wolverines host #17 Delaware Valley.

Kick-off is at 7 p.m., and the school will honor Drass in pre-game ceremonies
