Third possible novel coronavirus patient in First State tests negative

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

A third Delawarean has tested negative for CoVid-19, the illness resulting from the novel coronavirus.

Delaware’s Division of Public Health says the second of two pending test results in the state for CoVid-19 came back negative.

The New Caste County resident was released from the hospital and returned home to recover from their underlying illness. DPH announced the first of those two test results was negative Thursday and that patient also went home.

A Kent County resident also tested negative for the illness last week.

DPH says it’s also monitoring 27 travelers from China who are not showing any symptoms. These people have been asked to stay home and monitor for signs of illness for the next 14 days.

In a press release, DPH notes none of these people are sick and maintains the risk of coronavirus in Delaware. It also emphasizes that Asian American/Pacific Islander individuals are at no higher risk of carrying CoVid-19 than any other individual.

The University of Delaware says a second student tested for the virus came back negative, but the state is not confirming this is the same person it reported testing negative.
