Summer Concert Series returns to Wilmington Riverfront

Delaware Public Media

The Riverfront Development Corporation (RDC) is bringing back its summer concert series after the pandemic forced a hiatus last year.

This year's concerts return just in time for a year-long celebration of the Wilmington Riverfront’s 25th anniversary.

Riverfront Development Corporation marketing manager Joe Valenti says the COVID concert cancellations dealt them a monetary hit.

“It was disappointing that we weren't able to have all of the attractions and the events - like live concerts - that have really become the staple of the Riverfront and being down there outside, on the river with large groups of people," said Valenti. "So it’s really great that we can bring it back this year.”

But they hope to rebound as shows return to Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park Thursday nights in July and August.

“We have some returning favorites that are kind of staples of the concert series - Best Kept Soul (R&B, Gospel, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and Rock) - is one of the most popular local acts and regional acts that are going to perform in August," said Valenti.:"And we have Sean Reilly, who is a vocalist in a sort of Frank Sinatra kind of style.”

Valenti notes that the RDC is also hosting monthly lunchtime concerts at the Hare Pavilion located on the Riverwalk. Those concerts will be on July 14 and August 18 between noon and 1 p.m.

You can see the entire lineup at the Wilmington Riverfront website.
