State Senator's husband turns himself in over stolen campaign signs

The husband of state Sen. Bethany Hall-Long (D-Middletown) turned himself in to police Thursday morning after stealing state Republican Party campaign signs.

Dana Long was processed and arraigned at the Middletown Police Department on a misdemeanor theft charge.

Republican Party activists filmed Long early Wednesday morning uprooting signs along Del. 299. He eventually drove away before officers arrived.

Sen. Hall-Long issued a statement later that evening admitting it was her husband. She says she’s disappointed that wishes it wouldn’t have happened.

If convicted, Long could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.

He was eventually released on $250 unsecured bail.
