A small business in Delaware has signed an agreement to begin working with companies in South Korea.
Delaware’s state department hosted a signing ceremony this week for a memorandum of understanding between the Hockessin-based medical tourism organization My Med Choices and executives from five Korean medical firms.
“My Med Choices, through this deal and some of the other deals we’ve secured internationally through Australia, we’re going to be creating 120 jobs within 2020 in Delaware,” said My Med Choices’s founder and CEO Dr. Mary Swenson.
The deal would have My Med Choices negotiating travel between the United State and Korean for specialty medical procedures.
The deal is being fostered by Delaware’s Department of State through its international business program Export Delaware with support from federal grants to pay for travel expenses. The state sent Swenson and others to Korea to negotiate the deal in October.
“We arrange all their business appointments, we have them prepared [sic] with the correct sales presentations translated into the local language, we arrange and provide all the drivers and cars, personal interpretters and then on the back end we help with any follow up meets they may have,” said Beth Pomper, Director of Export Delaware.
The deal also involves five other Delaware businesses, including data analytics company Data Value and the medical records company Patient Sortal.
