Second possible novel coronavirus patient in First State tests negative

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Another Delawarean has tested negative for CoVid-19, the illness resulting from the novel coronavirus.

Delaware’s Division of Public Health says one of the two pending test results in the state for CoVid-19 has come back negative and the patient has returned home to recover from their underlying illness.

The other patient, a New Castle County resident, is still hospitalized waiting for test results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expected in the coming days.

A Kent County resident tested negative for the illness last week.

DPH says it’s also monitoring 13 travelers from China who are not showing any symptoms. These people have been asked to stay home and monitor for signs of illness for the next 14 days.

In a press release, DPH emphasizes none of these people are symptomatic. It says the risk of coronavirus in Delaware is low and people should be more concerned about the flu.

The University of Delaware also says one of its two students being tested for the virus came back negative, but the state would not confirm this is the same person it reported testing negative.
