Revamped indie movie house to open in October

After closing its doors suddenly this week, Wilmington's Theater N announced it will reopen under new management in October.

Theater N is now managed by its upstairs neighbor in the Nemours Building, The Mill, a community workspace.

The Kitchen, a film production company, and the Grand Opera House are also overseeing the transition.

It was previously run by the City of Wilmington’s Cultural Affairs Department.

The Mill’s founder, Robert Herrera said the theater is getting a fresh coat of paint, a new digital projector and a new sound system.

"And also one of the key things we’re excited to try out is a membership based model," Herrera said. It will be open to members and nonmembers.

According to Herrera, a “miscommunication” led to the theater suddenly shutting down earlier this week.

He promised the theater will still be an art-house cinema, showing first-run indie and classic films.

One of the things Hererra is most excited about is the possibility of showing 30mm films.
