Record camping year for Delaware

DNREC

Officials with The Delaware Department of Natural Resources counted more people camping in state parks in 2017 than ever before.

This new record comes after the state invested $11 million in campground renovations.

With those funds DNREC built new cabins, added water slides and playgrounds, and improved bathroom facilities at several of its parks.

They say overnight stays at campgrounds in the state have increased 47 percent in the last five years, with more than 16 thousand additional people spending the night last year than in 2016.
