Plea deal reached in Bodenweiser sex offender case

Former state Senate candidate Eric Bodenweiser plead no contest in Sussex County Superior Court Wednesday to two counts of third degree unlawful sexual contact.

The plea, which will classify Bodenweiser as a sex offender, resolves a case that resulted in a hung jury in June of last year. Sentencing will take place in May.In a statement, the victim said “I’m glad this has finally come to an end and I can finally move forward and get on with my life.”

Bodenweiser won the 2012 GOP primary for the State Senate seat representing the 19th district but dropped out before the November general election.

Shortly after, the 55-year old Georgetown resident was indicted on multiple charges of child sex abuse from alleged encounters in the late 1980’s and early 90’s.
