New data shows solid job growth in Delaware

The First State has seen job growth in recent months according to payroll data released Friday.

 

The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages shows Delaware adding 6,833 jobs between June of last year and June of this year, with about a third of that growth coming from the Accommodation and Food Service sector.

 

The state also added more than 1,100 manufacturing jobs, mostly in the poultry processing industry.

 

Meanwhile, Delaware lost about 10% of its information jobs over the 12 month period.

 

Health care and social assistance remains the state’s largest industry employing more than 70,000 people.

 

Delaware’s unemployment rate dropped back down to 3.9% in October while the national unemployment rate continues to rest at a historic low 3.7%.
