The Hotel du Pont’s iconic Green Room now has a new name to go with the new look that’s coming this spring.";s:

The name of the new French-themed restaurant replacing the Hotel du Pont’s Green Room this spring is now public.

It’s “Le Cavalier at the Green Room” - a choice the Hotel du Pont’s owner calls a nod to the Brandywine River Valley’s deep equestrian tradition.

Buccini/Pollin Group-co-founder and president Dave Pollin says when the hotel opened in the early 20th century, visitors arrived by horse.  He adds it also makes sense considering the du Pont family's history of horsemanship.

He also notes including “at the Green Room,” recognizes the storied dining room’s history.

Pollin hopes the new restaurant will open in time for Mother’s Day with Chef Tyler Akin looking to the south of France and northern Africa for menu influences.

The restaurant will seat 125 with an intimate 14 seat bar, a private dining room and seasonal outdoor patio seating on Rodney Square.
