NASCAR weekend gets rolling Friday in Dover

Dover International Speedway begins its 50th anniversary celebration with its spring NASCAR race weekend.

And action on the track for that race weekend is slated to begin in earnest Friday.

There’s a full schedule on the Monster Mile throughout the day.

Among the highlights is qualifying for Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup “"Gander RV 400."  Drivers battle for pole position in that race this afternoon at 3:40.

And that’s followed by the first race of the tripleheader weekend - the Gander Outdoors Truck Series “JEGS 200”.

That race is scheduled to get the Green flag at 5 pm.

But Mother Nature could put a damper on things today and throughout the weekend.  Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast all weekend.
