NASCAR rolls in Dover for fall race weekend

Delaware Public Media

NASCAR’s fall race weekend in Dover gets rolling Friday.

Practice for Sunday’s Monster Energy “Gander Outdoors 400” is on-tap at 11 a.m. ahead of qualifying at 3:40 this afternoon at Dover International Speedway.

The Gander Outdoors 400 is the first race in NASCAR Championship Playoffs Round of 12.  The field of contenders was trimmed by four after last week’s race in Charlotte.

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are currently first and second in the standings.

Busch won last fall’s race on the Monster Mile and is a 3-time winner in Dover.

Harvick won this year’s spring race back in May and is looking to become the first to pull off a Dover sweep since Jimmie Johnson in 2009

The K&N Pro Series East race is also on-tap Friday on the Monster Mile. That gets the green flag at 5 p.m.
