Massive Powerball jackpot goes to one winner

Delaware Public Media

The good news is there was a winning Powerball ticket sold for Wednesday night’s enormous $758.7 million drawing.

The bad news is that winning ticket for the second largest jackpot in U.S. was not sold in Delaware.

According to lottery officials, the winning ticket was sold in Massachusetts to a 53-year-old woman.  She matched the winning numbers: 6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and the Powerball 4

The winner, Mavis Wanczyk, opted for a cash payout, and walks away with $480.5 million, minus taxes.

Lottery officials add six other tickets won $2 million each and 34 more are worth $1 million. Delaware had one big winner. 46-year-old Jeffery Clouser of Bridgeville matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000.

With a winner Wednesday, the Powerball jackpot resets to $ 40 million for the next drawing on Saturday.

Delaware’s last Powerball jackpot winner came in December when a winning ticket worth nearly $122 million was sold at a Selbyville gas station.  The anonymous couple that held that ticket chose to take a cash payout option worth $74 million.
