Markell press secretary to lead state Clinton campaign

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is tapping Courtney McGregor, Gov. Jack Markell’s (D) press secretary, to lead its primary election office in the First State.

McGregor has served as Markell’s press secretary since the beginning of 2016 and as his social media manager since last February.

Before that, she headed the state Democratic Party’s communications office.

Hillary Clinton leads the delegate race over Bernie Sanders. According to the Associated Press, Clinton has won 12-hundred and 43 in primaries and caucuses so far, versus Sanders’ 980. She also has more super delegates who can award their vote at any time, widening the gap.

Delaware has 31 delegates up for grabs.  They are split proportionately, with some super delegates like Markell and the state’s Congressional delegation pledging support for Clinton.

First State Democrats and Republicans head to the polls April 26 to vote in their respective primaries.
