Locally filmed movie 'Delaware Shore' to premiere in N.Y.

A film made in Delaware and featuring First State actors makes its New York premiere on Dec. 28th.

Delaware Shore is the story of Agnes, a Holocaust survivor who finds refuge on a quiet Delaware beach. She’s raising her grandchildren Natasha and Gallagher, but because of her experiences she struggles to express affection.

Wilmington resident Linwood Jackson plays Shawn, a Newark coffee shop manager who hires and befriends Gallagher.

Jackson said the movie was shot almost entirely in Delaware.

“There’s a lot of negative stuff that people talk about with Delaware, but this is one jewel and great thing that’s going on in Delaware and we’re just looking forward to having everyone come out and see this great film,” he said.

Jackson said Delaware Shore will open in theaters in Delaware and Pennsylvania in January. It premiered in L.A. earlier this month.

Jackson said he became involved in the project through Michaelangelo Rodriguez, who authored the book the movie is based on.

“He wrote Wilmingtonians Part 1 and Part 2," he said. "And I was lucky enough to play a small part in Wilmingtonians 2.”

Delaware Shore has won prizes at several film festivals. That includes best picture, best original score and best ensemble at this year’s Accolade Competition and the Festigious International Film Festival.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
