New Delaware State University head football coach Kenny Carter’s first game at the helm did not produce a winning result.
The Hornets were knocked off by 14th ranked Liberty 32-13 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Flames out-gained DSU 417 yards to 269. mainly by out-rushing the Hornets 229-42. That disparity in rushing yards helped Liberty control time of possession. The Flames finished with a 36:44 to 23:16 advantage in that stat.
Delaware State also hurt its own cause with a pair of interceptions and 12 penalties for 98 yards.
The 0-1 Hornets visit Kent State next week.
