Jennings wins Delaware Attorney General's race

Nov 7, 2018

Kathy Jennings is the First State’s new Attorney General.

The Democrat easily defeated long time Democrat-turned-Republican Bernard Pepukayi.

Jennings finished with 61% of the vote and a nearly 81,000 vote margin of victory.

Jennings told her supporters in Wilmington Tuesday night that now the real work begins.

“We will make our criminal justice system fairer and more equal for everyone, regardless of the color of our skin, the size of our wallet, or the zip code where we live," said Jennings.

Jennings previously spent over 20 years in the state Department of Justice, including stints as state prosecutor and Chief Deputy Attorney General.

She now takes over the top spot, replacing fellow Democrat Matt Denn, who decided not to seek another term as Attorney General.
